Andrew Hobbs


Andrew leads EY’s Public Policy team which helps to protect EY’s reputation and licence to operate while at the same time enabling EY’s client teams. A qualified solicitor (20 years PQE), Andrew is particularly interested in the role of good governance in both business success and “doing the right thing”.

Until December 2016, Andrew focussed on Corporate Governance & Public Policy at our UK firm where he was a regular speaker on governance, chair of EY’s mid market independent director network and partner sponsor and trainer for the FT Non Executive Directors Club.
He now works with our EMEIA Assurance business to support boards of directors through initiatives like the Center for Board Matters and EY’s partnership with Tapestry Networks.

Andrew is a member of the ICAEW Corporate Governance Committee, the Disclosure and Transparency Committee of the International Corporate Governance Network, the Asia Corporate Governance Association India Working Group and the Corporate Governance Committee of the Business and Industry Advisory Committee at the OECD. He chairs the Corporate Governance Working Group of the European Contact Group whose members comprise the 6 largest accounting networks across the EU.

Finally having spent 8 years as a charity trustee, he regularly speaks to charities and social entrepreneurs on the benefits of good governance.
